Water Blade

Plunges a hand into water and draws out a weapon

Available Levels
1357910

The caster plunges a hand into water and draws out a blade.

A water blade is a superior-quality melee weapon of any chosen form: sword, axe, dagger, spear, or flail. It feels solid, never rusts or chips, and does not dissolve in liquid. It collapses into a puddle when the spell ends or after leaving its wielder's hand for more than one round.

Water Holds Magic Poorly

The blade carries the fundamental bonus of Enchant at the spell's level. Because water holds magic poorly, the weapon's total damage is halved.

Spell level Fundamental bonus before reduction
1 +4
3 +8
5 +16
7 +32
9 +64
10 +128

Resolve the attack normally using weapon dice, Strength under the weapons rules, and the fundamental bonus, then divide the total by two before DR. A critical hit multiplies first.

The blade grants no Reflex bonus. It counts as a magic weapon of the spell's level when determining what it can parry and what can parry it.

Number of Blades

The caster can create and maintain one blade per caster level. They need not come from the same water or be drawn at the same moment. A blade can be handed to an ally, planted in a door, or left with a guard.

A blade cannot attack alone. It requires a wielder or a power able to handle it at range, such as Telekinesis used on water. Equipping an entire escort with water blades is perfectly legitimate.
