Daviau Morin
Founder of House Morin and consul
Daviau Morin was a Level 22 sorcerer, founder of House Morin, and one of Cerberus's three consuls. For all that power, he lived in a small house away from the noise, studied the dwarven language in his spare time, and was still called a traitor's son by the paladins of the Ark.
At twenty-five, Daviau plotted the fall of Vlad Varanov beside Christophe Leblanc and Lucius Stoneheart. They understood the vampire but had no means to kill him until Valin, Portin, and Merenin arrived and opened an alliance with Askenon. The alliance ended Vlad's reign and gave Daviau a place in the Council that followed.
House Morin rose with him. Its trade with Askenon brought immense wealth through healing potions, enchantments, and transmutations. The family developed an affinity for water and ice, and summons elementals through secret words of power read from protected scrolls inside absolute silence.
Three centuries later, Daviau joined the invasion of the Sylla Peninsula. He held an invisibility spell over Portin's entire fleet while its Valerium artillery destroyed the great aqueducts. The bombardment cut every priest, paladin, and inquisitor in the Ark off from fresh divine mana.
When Sylla answered with Total Destruction, Daviau convinced Merenin to shelter the local humans inside the dwarven mountain. He then recognized that the censor had spent immense power and needed time to recover. That insight led Valin and the others to infiltrate Sylla's hidden island in the faces of dead Ark soldiers.
Daviau opened the battle with the epic Ice World and killed almost everyone in the room. Sylla walked out of it, lifted him, and broke his back against a wall. Daviau survived long enough to reach Merenin and Valin after Divine Judgment destroyed the island, pulling them out while a Valerium cannon held back the light.
Cauchemar defeated him without a battle. He offered Daviau incomparable dreams in exchange for occasional obedience and years of nightmare for refusal. Daviau accepted. Under that bargain, he killed Frolix with a ray of cold that left him a statue of ice. Aldor killed Daviau for it.
