Mana Horizon

Feels distant disturbances in red, blue, and divine mana

Available Levels
246810

Mana Horizon turns its three needles toward distant disturbances in red, blue, and divine mana. While the spell lasts, the caster senses mana being actively shaped or transferred within range. Each disturbance reveals its mana type, approximate direction and distance, and whether its power feels minor, comparable to the caster, or immense.

Incantations, rituals, maintained magic, and mana transfers can all be sensed. An instantaneous spell produces only a brief pulse when it is cast, while a ritual remains perceptible for as long as it continues. The spell does not detect unused spell slots, the natural mana within a living creature, or dormant enchantments.

This is a sense, not a map. Powerful and nearby sources stand out, while weak distant sources may disappear beneath greater magical activity. The caster may focus on one mana type, direction, or apparent strength during the spell, but never learns the exact location, spell, caster, or target. Detect Magic can provide those details after the source is found.

Magic Aura, Shroud, and similar effects conceal a source through a DC check against Mana Horizon. If the concealment wins, the spell perceives the false signal it creates or no signal at all.
