Classes

An optional layer: seven archetypes that replace the general progression charts—Fighter, Barbarian, Rogue, Ranger, Cleric of Archon, Psychic, and Wizard—plus the epic Lazy Wizard class.

Cerberus plays perfectly well without classes. A character is defined by concept, six attributes, and feats; the general charts in Character Creation and Progression can sustain an entire campaign.

This book describes an optional layer. A class is a complete set of charts that replaces general progression: action reserves, base HP, dodges, and Save quality. The GM uses it to deliberately widen the differences between profiles—most often to contain casters, the most powerful characters in the game (see Magic).
