Telus
The island of the censor called the Lord of Sciences
An island republic founded at M470, and afterwards the seat of the censor Markus Telus, surnamed the Lord of Sciences. The territory kept his family's name the way the other censors' lands kept theirs.
Telus made the first vampire without meaning to. Markus had the Varanov ennobled to repair his son Hector's crime against Olga; his other son Commode then destroyed the family and put Vlad on a scaffold, where Vlad cursed himself instead of repenting. The house that governs the sciences of the Ark is the house that made its worst enemy.
To the people of Telus the Minotaur was a legend and the sworn enemy of the censor's house, until Aldor's class killed it. Asked what reward they wanted, they asked for Florentus Telus's land bill.
The island was one of three fronts in the War of the Ark. Gérard Alois and Alfred Varanov both died there against the censor; Ivana killed him. Florentus Telus was still a senator twenty years after the fall.
