Feat

Cooperative Caster

Lends power to another caster without costing three ticks

Any spellcaster can cooperate under the magic rules, but each helper normally adds 3 ticks to casting time. A Cooperative Caster synchronizes with another mage's will.

When acting as a helper, this caster adds only 1 tick instead of 3. Count the feat separately for each helper: each adds 3 ticks or 1 tick depending on whether they possess it. Nothing else changes. The permitted caster level difference remains 5 CL or 20% of the leader's CL, whichever is more generous; contributions and the +50% ceiling remain unchanged; and the spell DC uses only the lead caster's Intelligence.

Example

Gérard at CL 20 casts Dominate with helpers at CL 15 and CL 20. Without the feat, casting takes 2 + 3 + 3 = 8 ticks.

  • If the CL 20 helper has it: 2 + 3 + 1 = 6 ticks.
  • If both have it: 2 + 1 + 1 = 4 ticks, one round and one tick. Three synchronized mages then cast at CL 25 almost as quickly as one mage at CL 20.
