Vaerak
Large Psychic hunting beast of Salk
The Vaerak is the favored hunting and war beast of the Kaer. It has the long body of a great cat, the discipline of a trained hound, a pale hide crossed by darker mineral lines, glossy black lower limbs, and solid luminous eyes. Kaer harnesses leave its shoulders free and mark the household or unit that trained it.
Vaeraks guard dimensional rituals, patrol military camps, and pursue Psychic creatures. Their own Rift Sense follows blue mana where sight and scent fail. It cannot detect red mana, giving the beast the same blind spot as its masters. A human remains visible and has a scent, but produces no Psychic trail for the Vaerak to follow.
A Vaerak is intelligent for an animal but remains a trained predator. It understands territory, hierarchy, pursuit, restraint, and concrete orders. Its calm around Kaer should not be mistaken for gentleness toward strangers or escaped slaves.
