Sand Troll
Colossal giant, summon and polymorph template
The Sand Troll is a species that has adapted to the deepest deserts. It sleeps beneath the dunes for years and wakes when a caravan passes. Its regeneration is so rapid that ordinary flame merely illuminates the wounds as they close; only sustained magical fire or acid offers hope of finishing it.
Its pattern requires Summon or Polymorph Level 10.

The Sand Troll uses the standard Ground Speed generated by DEX. It burrows through sand without leaving a stable tunnel. Its enormous hands can grapple, carry, tear, and throw, but cannot perform delicate work.
Attacks
| Attack | Level 10 |
|---|---|
| Claw | 10d8 + STR |
| Bite | 10d6 + STR |
A Bite replaces one Claw attack.
Sweeping Blow. Once per round, the Sand Troll can replace one attack with a sweep against every Medium or smaller creature within its Reach. Each target takes 60% of Claw damage.
Buried. A Sand Troll can wait motionless beneath loose sand. When it erupts beneath an unaware group, resolve its first attack as an attack from hiding; see Perception and Hidden Creatures.
Greater Regeneration
At the start of each tick, the Sand Troll recovers 20% of its maximum HP without spending an action. It can regenerate a total of 500% of its maximum HP per day. Once this reserve is exhausted, its regeneration stops until the reserve returns.
Only magical fire or magical acid suppresses this regeneration, and it does so for one full round. Ordinary fire and acid do not. The troll dies permanently only if it reaches its death threshold of −25% maximum HP while regeneration is suppressed.
Patient Hunger
A summoned Sand Troll can remain inactive for years and understands concrete territorial or hunting orders. It is patient, not intellectually flexible. A caster using Polymorph retains their own mind.
