Plains Giant

Gargantuan Psychic giant—summon and polymorph template

Plains Giants are a nearly extinct people of Cerberus. They are always Gargantuan, more intelligent than Hill Giants, and usually gentler. Where Hill Giants gather and raid, a Plains Giant tends to live alone. Their species reproduces poorly, and Hill Giant tribes destroyed most of those who remained.

Plains Giants speak the same Giant language as Hill Giants. Their Psychic power is tied to living bodies and the land around them. Vegetation grows larger along their paths, animals that remain near them become unusually vigorous, and long contact with a resting giant can strengthen a living body. These changes develop through sustained proximity rather than as an instant combat effect; the GM decides their exact result in the story.

Pierre is a Plains Giant. Its first profile becomes available with Summon or Polymorph Level 8.

Plains Giant (Polymorph & Summon Template)

Choose a known profile whose listed level is no higher than the level of Summon or Polymorph actually cast. Generate its body from the locked Spell DC; see Magical Creature Templates.

The Plains Giant uses the standard Ground Speed generated by DEX. Its hands can use tools and perform deliberate work, though ordinary buildings and equipment are far too small for it.

Physical Attacks

Attack Level 8 Level 10
Fist 4d8 + STR 6d8 + STR
Hurl Rock 4d6 + STR 6d6 + STR

A Fist can replace its damage with a grapple attempt.

Hurl Rock. The giant throws a real boulder as a normal attack. Its maximum range is 600 ft at Level 8 and 1,000 ft at Level 10. It needs a suitable rock within Reach and spends no spell slot.

Psychic Racial Spells

These spells are Psychic when cast by a Plains Giant and require neither speech nor gesture. The list is cumulative.

Racial spell Level 8 Level 10
Telekinesis 8 10
Regenerate 7 7
Superior Body 8 8

A summoned Plains Giant uses the innate spell-slot reserve granted by Summon. The caster can give it additional slots during creation, and Spell Conduit can provide more afterward.

A creature using Polymorph learns these racial spells but gains no second reserve. Every casting spends one of the transformed creature's real spell slots.

Mind and Solitude

A Plains Giant possesses humanlike intelligence and can understand complex orders, plans, and conversations. Its long solitude and simple desires do not make it stupid. A summoned Plains Giant begins with the fresh consciousness described by Summon. A caster using Polymorph retains their own mind.
