Character
Flavius Marcus
Governor of the Crassus Peninsula
A man taller than a barbarian of Brazzant, in armor worth a fortune, who governs from his castle and rarely leaves it. He was appointed by Marcus Crassus and is reminded of it whenever he displeases the family.
The Great Barrier was run from his castle. He kept it under six necromancers—half-dead, half-living soldiers the Crassus developed by mixing alchemy with black magic, who are healed by the same negative energy they attack with, and who eat bread and soup at his table while everyone else eats well.
He is a thinker in a family that wants an executioner, and he was the first person on the Ark to say aloud that something was wrong: the death of Polymarch, the death of the Minotaure, too much moving too fast. Vérité Crassus told him to act on it or hand back his armor.
He was on his own roof when the barrier came down, telling a Cerberan wizard that no one has the army to conquer the Ark.
