To the Past
Read the past that resides in magic
Any area with a faint magical presence holds its own past — from the moment magic first touched the place, up to now. To the Past lets the wizard step into that record and walk through it.
The caster enters a perfect, magic-woven recreation of the scene, starting at any moment of their choosing. Within it, they can move freely, examine the smallest details, and stop time to study a frozen instant. They may also run the vision forward or backward at speed — a pace limited only by their mind: 1 % per Intelligence modifier. During such fast travel, the wizard only sees and hears normally and cannot zoom in on specific elements.
How far back the wizard can reach grows with the spell's level:

At 9th level, the wizard can also cast Detect Magic and other divination spells while inside the vision.
