Burning Hands

A torrent of fire that grows deadlier while the caster holds it

Available Levels
1357910

Burning Hands pours a continuous cone of fire from the caster's fingertips. The caster channels it for one to three consecutive ticks, spending one spell action each tick. Every creature and object in the cone takes the listed fire damage at the end of each tick it remains exposed.

The caster chooses the cone's direction again each tick. They may stop channeling at any time, but cannot resume the same casting once it ends. If damage interrupts the channel under the normal casting rules, the flames stop; damage already dealt remains.

The spell spends one slot when channeling begins. Holding it for additional ticks spends actions, not additional slots. Exposed material may catch fire normally.
