Engravings for helm and armor: see, recognize, rescue
Not every rune is made for striking. These engravings belong on a helm or suit of armor. They express what a people who prize order above every virtue expect from battle: know where your allies are, and never be surprised.
Rune of the Clear Eye. The bearer senses every invisible creature within 30 ft—a direction and position, never an image. The bearer does not see the creature but knows it is there, which is enough to dodge and parry it.
Rune of the Banner. The bearer recognizes allies at a glance through smoke, darkness, melee, mud, and borrowed colors. No illusion, disguise, or stolen form can make an enemy appear to be a companion.
Rune of Blood. The bearer knows which allies within 60 ft are injured and how severely, as an order of gravity rather than a number. This is the rune of officers, stretcher-bearers, and field surgeons, and one of the few that a dwarf will admit has saved more lives than any axe.
Each engraving counts as a full rune on the object that bears it.
