Lumberjack's Rune

Ten blows become one

A rune of labor rather than battle, and one of the few a dwarf will engrave for an outsider. It fells a tree in one tenth the usual number of blows.

The weapon deals ten times its normal damage to wood: trees, doors, beams, bridges, palisades, ship hulls, carts, and scaffolding. A runic lumberjack's axe opens a barred door in one blow and cuts through a mast in three.

It has no special effect on a creature, even a plant creature, whose flesh is not workable lumber. The GM resolves edge cases.

Ironwood is exempt. The book describes it as hard as metal, and the rune treats it accordingly. More than one besieger has discovered that a dwarven fortress door was not truly wood.
