Second Witness

A summoned mind watches over its master's own

A creature maintained through Summon becomes an independent witness to its master's state of mind. While the summon is conscious and their communication link functions, the master makes one additional Will Save against each illusion, enchantment, domination, or other mental effect that reaches them. This additional Save exists even when the effect normally permits no Save. It is made once when the effect takes hold, not once per turn.

The master uses their own Will Save. If the effect has no listed DC, use the opposing caster's Spell DC or the DC chosen by the GM. Success has the normal result of resisting or ending that effect.

An illusion affecting only the master is particularly vulnerable: the summon perceives the contradiction and immediately tells the master that what they perceive is false. If the illusion also affects the summon, it can give this warning only after perceiving the illusion for what it is.

The bond conveys awareness, not a scripted response. A summon may recognize that its master is acting against their nature, seek the source of the attack, strike the controlling caster, restrain its master, or attempt to shock them out of the effect. These actions follow the normal rules and do not automatically end the magic.
