Feat

Cleave

Cuts through a line of enemies with one swing

Cleave carries one melee attack through several enemies. Targets must occupy adjacent 5 ft spaces within the attacker's threatened area, along the same sweep. Declare their order first.

One use consumes one attack and rolls damage once. Resolve each target in order:

  1. It can dodge or parry normally.
  2. A dodge avoids the blow, but the sweep continues.
  3. A parry stops the sweep; that target and all behind it take no damage.
  4. On a hit, apply that target's DR. DR that absorbs all damage stops the sweep.
  5. If at least 1 damage passes through DR, continue to the next target.

Sweep Size

The attacker's size determines how many 5 ft spaces the attack crosses, up to twice natural reach.

Attacker size Natural reach 5 ft spaces Maximum Medium targets
Medium 5 ft 2 2
Large 10 ft 4 4
Huge 15 ft 6 6
Gargantuan 25 ft 10 10
Colossal 40 ft 16 16

Targets larger than Medium occupy several spaces: Large counts as 2, Huge as 3, and so on. Position and weapon shape still matter; a thrusting spear or short weapon may be unable to sweep, at the GM's discretion.
