The dog is a natural Medium animal: fast, enduring, social, and gifted with a sense of smell better than most detection magic. Its first profile becomes available with Summon or Polymorph Level 2.

The dog uses the standard Ground Speed generated by DEX. It can run, track, carry or pull objects, and operate simple mechanisms with its mouth, but has no hands.

Attacks and Traits

Bite. The dog deals 1d8 + higher of STR or DEX.

Canine Scent. Smell is a very favorable factor when the dog detects or tracks a creature. It normally follows a fresh trail without a roll, even at night or through a forest. Water, rain, magic, a masked scent, or an old trail may still require one.

Locked Jaw. Beginning at Level 4, the dog can replace one attack with a grapple attempt against a limb. On a success, the target cannot use that limb until it escapes.

An Animal Mind

A summoned dog understands people, places, scents, routes, trained behaviors, emotional tone, and concrete orders. Higher profiles do not grant language or abstract reasoning. A caster using Polymorph retains their own mind.
