Creature

Cat

Small animal, summon and polymorph template

The cat is a natural Small animal and the form of spies and thieves. It goes almost anywhere, makes little sound, sees in dim light, and rarely draws attention. Its first profile becomes available with Summon or Polymorph Level 2.

Cat (Polymorph & Summon Template)

Choose a known profile whose listed level is no higher than the level of Summon or Polymorph actually cast. Generate its body from the locked Spell DC; see Magical Creature Templates.

The cat uses the standard Ground Speed generated by DEX and climbs at that same speed. Its paws can open a loose latch, push a small object, or carry something in its mouth, but cannot manipulate tools.

Attacks and Traits

Claws. The cat deals 1d4 + DEX.

Feline Stealth. The cat moves silently and slips through any opening large enough for its body. The GM assigns a very favorable factor to Stealth and often requires no check in a cluttered interior.

Night Vision. The cat has Darkvision 60 ft and suffers no penalty in dim light.

Always Lands on Its Feet. Ignore the first 30 ft of a fall when calculating damage. While conscious, the cat lands upright. A greater fall deals the usual damage for every remaining 10 ft.

Nobody Watches a Cat. A cat doing nothing suspicious draws little attention. Recognizing a mage in cat form requires a Will Save against the locked Spell DC, and only when its behavior or another clue betrays the deception.

An Animal Mind

A summoned cat understands places, people, scents, routines, simple signals, and concrete orders. Higher profiles strengthen its body without making it more intelligent. A caster using Polymorph retains their own mind.
